The story of this place

Sea Cliff Bridge is one of the most dramatic pieces of coastal engineering in NSW, a 665-metre road deck suspended from sandstone cliffs 40 metres above the ocean. The most photographed angle is from the cliff-top lookout above, which places the sweeping curve of the bridge against the blue Pacific and surf line below. The heritage coal mining town of Coalcliff in the background adds context. At water level, the underside walkway provides an unusual perspective looking up at the bridge underside with cliff faces and ocean. Sunrise and golden hour light from the north-east is the preferred lighting direction. A drone permit is required for aerial photography.
