The story of this place

The sandstone walls of the Lord Nelson have stood in The Rocks since 1842, making it one of Sydney's oldest hotel buildings and the city's oldest pub brewery. The heritage-listed building houses the Nelson Brewery, where traditional ales are still crafted on-site using methods passed down through generations. The Three Sheets IPA and Old Admiral dark ale have become Sydney beer legends. Named after the British naval hero, the pub's maritime connections run deep—it's said that sailors would tie up at nearby wharves and make their way here for a pint. The sandstone was quarried from the very hill it stands on.
