The story of this place

Lamington National Park protects one of the largest areas of subtropical rainforest in Australia within the McPherson Range. The park is home to Albert's Lyrebird, a species found nowhere else, famous for its extraordinary vocal mimicry and elaborate courtship display. The lyrebirds are most visible during the June–August breeding season when males perform on elevated display mounds. The park's ancient Antarctic beech trees (Nothofagus moorei) — relics from the Gondwana supercontinent — create extraordinary forest photography subjects. The Binna Burra and Green Mountains sections provide different access points.
