The story of this place

Built in 1855 by merchant Adolphus Frederic Feez, this Gothic Revival mansion became the secondary official residence of the Australian Prime Minister in 1956. While The Lodge in Canberra is the PM's primary home, Kirribilli House is where they host world leaders and escape parliamentary politics. The house sits on Kirribilli Point, directly across the harbour from the Opera House, offering what might be the best views in Australia. Queen Elizabeth II stayed here during her 1954 visit, and every PM since Robert Menzies has used it for official functions and family holidays.
