The story of this place

Josephine Falls is one of the most accessible and visually striking waterfalls in the Wet Tropics of Queensland, located in Wooroonooran National Park. The falls cascade over massive granite boulders in three distinct tiers, each creating a natural swimming hole with crystal-clear water. The granite rock surfaces are smooth enough for natural rock sliding. The lower pool is the most photographed section — surrounded by rainforest with the waterfall cascading directly into it. A short 600-metre walk from the car park provides access. The falls flow year-round but are most powerful after wet season rain (January–April). The surrounding rainforest contains cassowaries and tree kangaroos.
