The story of this place

Govetts Leap is positioned at the largest amphitheatre in the Blue Mountains, where the sandstone escarpment curves around the Grose Valley in a massive horseshoe formation. The lookout stands at 1065 metres elevation and surveys a view that extends to the Hawkesbury River lowlands 40 km away on clear days. Bridal Veil Falls drops 180 metres down the right side of the amphitheatre, providing a dynamic vertical element. The lookout faces north-west, making afternoon light and sunset optimal. The Pulpit Rock track (2.5 km return) provides an additional elevated platform in the middle of the escarpment arc with 360-degree views.
