The story of this place
The Eureka Skydeck occupies level 88 of the Eureka Tower, providing 360-degree views of Melbourne at 285 metres above sea level. The glass-walled observation deck allows photography in all directions without obstruction. Blue hour produces the most dramatic cityscapes as building lights activate against the twilight sky. The 'Edge' extension — a glass cube that projects 3 metres out from the building — provides vertiginous downward compositions. The city grid of Melbourne is visible in its geometric perfection from this height. Sunset from the west-facing section shows the Docklands and Bolte Bridge in warm light. Night photography of the city's illuminated grid is the most productive.
