The story of this place

The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforest in the world, estimated at over 180 million years — far predating the Amazon. The canopy walkways and elevated boardwalks at the Daintree Discovery Centre provide access to the forest mid-storey, where extraordinary macro photography subjects exist: fern fronds, orchids, basket ferns and moss-covered branches. The forest floor is home to the Southern Cassowary, one of the world's most photogenic large birds. Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef, provides one of Australia's most unique landscape compositions. The humid environment requires weatherproofed equipment.
