The story of this place
On June 10, 1956, Beppi Polese opened a small Italian restaurant on Yurong Street in East Sydney. Nearly 70 years later, Beppi's still operates from the same address—a remarkable feat in an industry where restaurants rarely survive a decade. Beppi himself became known as the 'patriarch of Italian restaurants in Sydney,' introducing generations of Australians to authentic Italian cuisine. The cellar beneath the restaurant holds over 40,000 bottles, one of Australia's finest Italian wine collections. The rich and famous have dined here alongside everyday families, all drawn by the warmth of Italian hospitality that Beppi made his legacy.
