The story of this place
Alice Springs sits in one of the darkest sky locations in Australia, with minimal light pollution and over 300 clear nights per year. The Desert Park on the western edge of town provides elevated positions for astrophotography with the MacDonnell Ranges as foreground. Between April and October, the Milky Way core arches overhead from south to north, providing extraordinary compositions with desert vegetation and red earth as foreground. The Southern Cross, Scorpius and the Magellanic Clouds are all visible to the naked eye. The park also offers nocturnal wildlife experiences with bilbies and other desert animals.
